Al-Sultan al-'Azam wal Khaqan al-Mukarram Zahir ud-din Muhammad Jalal ud-din Babur Padshah Ghazi was born in Samarqand in 1482 as the son of Umar Shaikh Mirza. HIstorian Rushbrook calls Babur as the "Empire builder of the 16th Century".
